National Park Drents-Friese Wold

In the year 2000, the conservation area Drents-Friese Wold has become a national park. These national parks can be found all over the world. They build a network of important conservation areas that hold a special quality seal. In the Netherlands 18 of this kind of conservation area have been appointed national park. The main task of these areas is that of conservation and protection of natural landscapes, but of course visitors are also very welcome. The national parks in the Netherlands receive a yearly state budget for the purpose of creating and maintaining recreation facilities, taking protection and conservation measures, and to pay for special specific projects.
